An enterprise budget is an estimation of costs, returns and profit anticipated for producing a specific product. Enterprise budgets are valuable tools for producers and can be used to determine cost of production, break-even prices and break-even yields for each enterprise. They can be used to make year-to-year adjustments in production practices and management decisions in response to market variability. Enterprise budgets can also be used to compare viability and profitability between enterprises and help producers determine which enterprises to include to increase the success of the whole farm. The livestock and specialty budgets available here are specific to Utah and the crop budgets are specific to the various counties in Utah. These budgets provide a framework for producers that can be modified by a producer to better reflect his or her individual situation.
